South Korean boy band BTS urged fans to stay away from their upcoming shows to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

BTS is set to film several TV shows in Seoul this week, marking the release of their latest album, Map Of The Soul: 7, but they are encouraging their faithful fans not to show up to the show’s tapings, WENN.com reported.

In an email to fan club members, the bandmates have confirmed the shows will go ahead as planned, but without a studio audience.

“We have decided to fully co-operate with the government’s policy to refrain from holding events with a massive number of participants in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus,” a statement from the group’s record label reads.

“We would like to advise fans to refrain from visiting the venue of the press conference for your own safety, and ask you to support BTS by watching the press conference via livestreaming.”

Drone videos show thousands of desperate South Koreans lining up to buy face masks after a few dozen cases of the coronavirus ballooned to over 800 confirmed cases practically overnight.

The coronavirus has claimed the lives of seven people in South Korea and over 800 people are infected in the country.

The Korean Music Awards, where BTS was nominated for Artist and Song of the Year, has also been canceled, WENN.com reports.
